There’s been a lingering curiosity over past few years as to what was going to open in the historic building at the northeast corner of Homer and Smithe.
The wait is now over: Homer St. Cafe and Bar has arrived, much to the delight of the neighbourhood.
Rotisserie chicken is the name of the game here, with quarter, half or whole portions (from $18-$32) coming out of the Rotisol Grande Flame Olympic Rotisserie machine in the establishment’s open concept kitchen. Under the watchful eye of the stellar food and drink team of Marc-Andre Choquette, Tret Jordan, JS Dupuis and Alex Thornley, patrons have been filing in day and night to partake in the well-thought out menu and cocktails.
Outfitted in gorgeous tile work, marble, antiques and Industrial salvaged windows, the space — designed by Craig Stanghetta — pays homage to its heritage roots while still maintaining a comfortable contemporary air.
It was well worth the wait.
